What are the different reflective tape patterns (Double Hoop / H-Pattern / X-Pattern) and when are they mandatory in Australia?
Hoop Pattern – Two horizontal bands around the torso plus arm bands. Common on worksites, warehouses, logistics. Not mandatory. H-Pattern – Vertical stripes from shoulders to waist with a horizontal band (front & back). Required for rail, metro and airport airside workers. Mandatory in these industries. X-Pattern – Crossed stripes on the back with a horizontal waist band, plus arm bands. Required for roadworks, traffic control, highways, tunnels. Mandatory under road safety regulations. 📌 In summary: Hoop = general use, H = rail/airport, X = road & traffic control. All comply with AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 hi-vis safety standards.
